Princess, shmincess

... I thought I was above the whole princess thing. I remember running into a friend at the mall on a Black Friday. She has a daughter about Wendy's age and excitedly told me about the great deals they were having at the Disney Store and showed me all her princess paraphernalia. I really hate to admit it, but deep down (or maybe more in one of my more shallow areas) I turned my nose up. MY daughter is't into cheesy things like princesses, I thought. Boy have I eaten those thoughts now. I should probably apologize to my friend. My daughter is obsessed (and you can bet I was one of the first people at the Disney Store this last Black Friday).

I've come to realize there is "a whole new world" out there when it comes to princess culture. Letting Wendy wear her cheesy princess dresses to Disneyland and ignoring all the rides just to get a moment with one of the princesses, I can't help but melt when I see the way she lights up. I don't fight it anymore. Now my only dilemma is planning a princess party. Dang it. I don't want to, but she's been talking about it for 6 months. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve to make this party not cheesy and fun for the boys. I hope it works.

I've been guilty of having those same thoughts about other people too. It's funny how you eat your words or thoughts sometimes in life!

I accidentally stumbled upon your blog once and I have enjoyed looking through your pictures and hearing your story!

I am pregnant with my second boy, but I have to say-- I envy this princess stuff...

Maybe one day! ;)

There's just no avoiding it I guess. She sure is a beautiful little princess though. Good luck with the party. I'm sure it will be fabulous!

I love it! Baby Wendy has grown into Princess Wendy. So magically, Hannah is into rockstars now and it's so sad. Last time at Disneyland she didn't even ask to wear a princess dress. It really is so magical to have a princess little girl at Disneyland. Take tons of pictures because those chubby little cheeks will be gone one day... the magic in her eyes will be gone one day... ok, why am I tearing up?

My sister-in-law who is American used to be a Disney Princess on cruises in Asia... i was telling her about this post and it made her miss her job so much. She said girls like Wendy made her job SO FUN.
